Indie devs do this a lot, its a shame when they do but they cant waste time marketing or dealing with every conspiracy theory that pops up when they need to crunch to make the game.

If the game never comes out or turns out bad, thats a shame but you dont actually have much proof beyond a reddit post of questionable sources. The devs dont owe you anything unless you pre orderd.
